The ASA, 1-3/8" bore spindle is an adjustable spindle adaptor designed to use adjustable tooling manufactured by several readily available "off the shelf" vendors. This spindle uses a larger bearing and cannot be used on a drill unit that uses the standard bearing.
There are several benefits of using adjustable adaptors. One benefit is the additional fine adjustment of drill depths between drill changes. Great for use with internal stroke limiter (stop tube) option. Another advantage is the ability to install quick change adaptors to facilitate rapid changing of drills. Another benefit to adjustable adaptors, is that your shop can use standardized tooling for all your drilling operations and be able to swap drills from operation to operation.
The exact style of adjustable adaptors is dependent upon the manufacturer of the tooling. Consult your local machine supply shop for adaptors available in your area.

Jiffy-Drill is the light, powerful, and compact answer to production drilling, reaming, spot facing, and similar operations. The torque is limited mostly by the drive style chosen. The RPM of the unit is determined by the drive style, and should be limited to less than 5000 rpm to reduce bearing wear and overheating. The feed cylinder extension area is 3.15 in², and the retraction area is 1.37 in². The smaller retraction area increases the retraction speed. The feed cylinder should not be used in a meter out system, this will cause failure of the feed cylinder front end.

Feed Location: Right side of unit.

This unit is equipped to use the larger front bearing and must be used only with spindles that support the larger bearing (M4, S138 & custom).

Use the combination of the dimensional prints for the main unit, spindle and drive style to determine the overall dimensions and to generate a CAD model.

The B-6 hydraulic motor has a displacement of 14.1 in.³/rev. The B-Series motors are economical, efficient, small and powerful. These motors are designed for medium duty applications. Industry proven spool valve design combined with state-of-art gerotors. In addition, direction of shaft rotation and shaft speed can be controlled easily and smoothly throughout the speed range of the motor. For best motor life, run a new motor for 1 hour at 30% of rated pressure before application to full load. Be sure motor is filled with hydraulic fluid prior to any load applications.
