Understanding the Jiffy Data Page

The data for each unit selected is broken down into three sections plus options. Each section is combined to complete a Jiffy unit. Please use dimensional, parts and STP files from each section to complete the unit.

#3 Morse Female Taper

The #3 Morse spindle is an internal, "Self-Holding" female taper. Common off the shelf twist drills will readily fit a #3 Morse taper. Adapter to go from a #3 Morse to a #2 or #1 Morse are available from local tooling supply stores. Most drills are also available with either a larger or smaller than standard Morse taper. Consult your tool supply store for various options available. The Morse tool holder is equipped with a knock-out slot for easy tool removal.

Basic Unit

Jiffy-Drill is the light, powerful, and compact answer to production drilling, reaming, spot facing, and similar operations. The torque is limited mostly by the drive style chosen. The RPM of the unit is determined by the drive style, and should be limited to less than 5000 rpm to reduce bearing wear and overheating. The feed cylinder extension area is 3.15 in2, and the retraction area is 1.37 in2. The smaller retraction area increases the retraction speed. The feed cylinder should not be used in a meter out system, this will cause failure of the feed cylinder front end.
Stroke Length: 0 to 3-1/2" Maximum.
Feed Location: Right side of unit.

Use the combination of the dimensional prints for the main unit, spindle and drive style to determine the overall dimensions and to generate a CAD model.

M-0 Motor

The M-0 hydraulic motor has a displacement of 0.50 in.3/rev. The B-Series motors are economical, efficient, small and powerful. These motors are designed for medium duty applications. Industry proven spool valve design combined with state-of-art gerollors. In addition, direction of shaft rotation and shaft speed can be controlled easily and smoothly throughout the speed range of the motor. The complete range of RPM and torques can be found in the motor literature.
RPM Range*: 456 - 1902
Torque Range*: 11 - 139 in-lbs
Fluids: Premium quality, anti-wear type hydraulic oil.
Temperature: -30°F to 180°F
For best motor life, run a new motor for 1 hour at 30% of rated pressure before application to full load. Be sure motor is filled with hydraulic fluid prior to any load applications.

*RPM and Torque are affected by the pressure and GPM of the hydraulic fluid. Actual RPM and Torque may be different than what is shown in the tables.
